About
DC Music has a new sound. Pulling together elements of funk, jazz, latin and world beats while keeping a rock-steady reggae vibe, Lucky Dub brings a fresh sound to the DC music scene!
Since forming in 2008, Lucky Dub has been lighting up stages and getting audiences moving all over the DC metro area. Starting with the historic Black Cat, where Lucky Dub captured their live energy on their debut album “Lucky Dub: Live”, the band has played just about every well known venue in DC and the surrounding area including Jammin’ Java, the Rock and Roll Hotel, Lisner Auditorium, IOTA, and the legendary 9:30 Club. All the buzz eventually reached the ears of critics, and Lucky Dub was nominated for two Wammy
Awards in 2010 from the Washington Area Music Associations, including Best Reggae Band.
Lucky Dub’s recently released studio album, “Mindset” is a perfectly blended mash up of their live energy mixed with their musical creativity and ingenuity. While remaining true to their roots-reggae beginnings, the band branches out in reflection of the diversity of the players on the record.
With musicians from both coasts of the United States, West Africa, Russia, South America, and the Caribbean, Lucky Dub has managed to create a full, worldly, positive sound.
This unique blend of world-reggae is poised to be a unifying sound in the DC music scene. The blending of musical styles using the reggae vibe as the common denominator bridges together different fans and ensures that Lucky Dub has something for everyone to get down to!
As band frontman Gordon Daniels puts it, “Our music is a reflection of the world we want to see, where people from all different walks of life are working together, moving to one beat, and creating a positive sound for all.”
